Pre-1935 pottery jar with snake by the Maricopa Indias, Pi-paash, of Arizona.
Hand built with native clay and slips, mesquite sap paint, pit fired.
5" deep by 8" diameter, a very old firing crack stabilized by the maker.
The buff slip has a deep age patina.
Probably the early work of Mabel Sunn or Vesta Bread, based on the painted designs.
Collection #176.
